I begin by listening to why you are asking for help with your dog. Then I do a thorough assessment, including behavioral observation, health and behavioral history, and observing your dog’s movement for signs of any physical discomfort.
After that, we discuss options for improving your dog’s behavior, which may include training, changes to the environment, and suggestions for questions to ask your veterinarian.
Individual sessions focus on training, and other information on how to improve both your dog’s behavior and your relationship.
Classes are offered on Loose Leash Walking, General Mindfulness for Dogs and Their People, Enrichment and Games, Relaxed Veterinarian Visits, and more.
Classes are held in several locations. If you see a topic of interest that I am not presently offering, contact me for more information.
Skype/FaceTime sessions are available for those outside of the Charlotte area.

“I’ve been meaning to write for quite some time to tell you what a positive and lasting change you’ve brought to our life with Piper. And to Piper’s life, of course … The dog club was a wonderful experience for both of us.”
AC Warden & Monty
“Joanne is a skilled and compassionate trainer of all dogs – big or small. From basic obedience to loose leash walking and even to basic agility, her techniques helped me develop a whole new relationship with my little terrier mix. Plus she made the whole experience fun for both of us.”
